Creating videos every week requires discipline and planning but can provide great rewards in marketing your mortgage business. To help generate ideas for your videos, I recommend dividing your weekly videos into segments or categories. If you have one category for each week of the month, you will be able to come up with ideas for those categories rather than looking at the whole topic of “mortgages” to figure out what video to make for that week.
Four Course Menu
Think of it as four courses in a menu:
Yes, there are certainly other options and specialties, but let’s keep this simple. You can do the same in your monthly video production:
By knowing “what” topic you need to create a video about, you can focus more on completing a video within that topic. Let’s look at the first item on our menu, Community/Lifestyle.
Community/Lifestyle Video
One video you do each month focuses on your community or lifestyle. You can do a video about a business in your area such an accountant or financial planner. You could focus on something around schools or parks in your area. Community based videos focus on your community, what it’s like to live in the area.
If you choose to do a lifestyle video, you could talk about being an entrepreneur or business owner. You could talk about leadership or being a working parent. If you like to golf, you could do a video about golf courses in the area or cycling. Lifestyle videos focus on just that, your life.
So, that is one video you can do each month. This allows you to be creative and show your community. The next type of video you can do each month is a focus on YOU.
Focus on YOU Video
Your Focus on YOU video does just that; shows you and your business. You could talk to a member of your team. You could highlight your process in your business. You could interview a business partner. The idea of doing one video a month that focuses on you is to allow the viewers to get to know you and your business.
The third type of video to do each month is Mortgage Updates and Program Highlights.
Mortgage Updates/Program Highlight
Doing one video each month on a recent update or program highlight should be very easy for you. This month FHA has a change to its’ student loan calculation, which makes a great topic for a video. We find that update videos are the most viewed and shared videos. Loan limit changes, program updates or just plan out, what are closing costs are great videos. Don’t be afraid of doing a video that is ten minutes or longer. Kyle Seagraves, who has over 78,000 subscribers on his mortgage YouTube channel, Win the House You Love, https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCkIdUg2r0FwwcN_0zNJ1KUg, averages 10-13 minutes on his videos with thousands of views.
And, finally, a story video.
Story Video
Story videos are just that, a story about a borrower who you helped. Could be a veteran or single mom who you helped get into a loan who had been turned down elsewhere. It could be helping a family who recently moved to your area. Story videos can be done with the borrower or you can simply tell the story. You don’t have to mention their names, or maybe you change their name. Doing one video each month that is a story shows your ability to help. People remember stories.
So, four videos a month. One each week. Divide your videos into menu categories and it will make it much easier for you to plan your videos each month. All you have to do is say, what am I doing for my community video and then do it. Next, is your all about you video, which could be an interview with a realtor who you just closed a deal with and focuses on how you streamlined the process. If you don’t want to do a video about you every month, do another video about a mortgage topic that will educate. Third video is about a mortgage update or program and the fourth video is a story.
Have fun and Bon Appetit!
